Minecraft: 15 Best Quality-Of-Life Mods

Many people all across the world like playing Minecraft. The game is great as it is, but some gamers think that with the right mods, it could be much better. Players should experiment with the many available mods for Minecraft, including the quality of life mods that provide substantial improvements without changing the game’s basic features.

Table of Contents

OptiFine

It’s highly recommended that you use the OptiFine mod to fine-tune your Minecraft experience. There are a lot of details to learn about the OptiFine mod before installing it, but it’s well worth it for any Minecraft player. It is a really handy mod even if you don’t like modifications in general. A higher framerate means a more fluid gameplay experience, which will be noticeable to the majority of players right away. With OptiFine installed, you gain access to a plethora of additional settings, such as dynamic lighting and a customizable render distance. OptiFine is what you need for the best possible Minecraft experience.

Just Enough Items

The JEI mod, or Just Enough Items, is a viewer for items and recipes. It shows you every item and how to make it in the game. Because you can’t start crafting without the ingredients first, JEI is an indispensable mod for many players. JEI can assist you in determining the necessary components for your build if you’re missing any essential building pieces. Much more time-efficient than going outside the game to look it up. Once JEI is installed, there is no reason to remove it.

JourneyMap

To help you get around your Minecraft environment, the developers created a navigation addon called JourneyMap. There will now be a small map in the top right corner of your screen, with your location displayed beneath it. You can’t just glance at the map and know where everything is since it constantly changes. Even though you’ll still have to go out and explore the world on your own, you won’t have to use the in-game maps as much. This is the perfect update for you if you have a habit of wandering aimlessly.

AppleSkin

AppleSkin is a helpful add-on that enhances the performance of the system’s Hotbar. AppleSkin provides more details about food, such as the number of hunger points it restores and the amount of saturation it restores. That data is hidden from players in the vanilla version of Minecraft. Furthermore, the mod includes a plethora of new Hotbar visualizations for displaying saturation, tiredness, possible hunger restoration, and potential health restoration. In my opinion, AppleSkin is one of the best additions to Minecraft because it contains many features that should be there in the original game.

Waystones

The Waystones mod is an option for those who want to include instant transportation into Minecraft. Although common in other open-world games, it’s missing in Minecraft. With the proper tools and materials, you can make your own Waystone. When two Waystones are made, you can use them to instantly go between locations.

Nature’s Compass

When looking for a specific biome, the Nature’s Compass add-on comes in handy. Just four pieces of wood, four saplings, and a compass are all that’s needed to make it. Right-clicking while holding a natural compass will open the user interface. The user interface allows you to direct the compass to a specific biome.

The names of all biomes, the type of top block, and the average annual precipitation for each biome are all provided by Nature’s Compass. If you’re looking for a certain kind of resource and you know it’s only found in a certain biome, this is a great tool to have.

Timber Mod

The Timber Mod will streamline the process of chopping down trees in order to obtain wooden planks. By hitting the base of the tree, the entire structure will topple, and all the wood will be dropped. Using this mod, harvesting wood will be so simple that you won’t want to play the original Minecraft ever again. Simply holding an axe in your hand and pressing the V key will activate the mod. Collect all the wood that has fallen, but don’t forget to yell “timber” as you do so.

Fast Leaf Decay

Everyone gets aggravated when the tree they just chopped down still has leaves on it. The Fast Leaf Decay mod is available for download to address this issue. Leaves will begin to rot a few seconds after a tree is cut down thanks to this mod. Those annoying floating leaves will never longer bother you, no matter how long you wait for them to decompose. When chopping down trees, you can discard the leaves without any problems. There’s no such thing as too much calm.

Slabs

Although slabs are a highly helpful Minecraft block, some players believe they should be improved. It can be frustrating that when you stack two slabs on top of each other and shatter it, you get one solid block. When you break a slab with the KleeSlabs mod, you only get the slab you are looking at the back, rather than the entire block. It could free you to experiment with new construction methods without risking the destruction of your hard work.

NetherPortalFix

After entering the Nether, you’ll have a long list of things to complete, but getting in and out of the place can prove difficult. When you exit the Nether via a portal, you may find yourself in a whole new part of the Overworld. Thanks to the NetherPortalFix patch, that problem is now permanently solved. If you install this mod, you’ll never have to worry about getting lost in the Nether again because you’ll always return through the same portal you entered. One simple change can have a huge impact.

Corail Tombstone

Can you recall a time when you died in Minecraft and lost everything? The Corail Tombstone update eliminates the possibility of this happening in the future. After you die, a gravestone will appear to store all of your belongings in this mod. If you are playing on a shared server, this prevents you from having to rush back to your grave to retrieve your belongings before they are deleted. As an added bonus, this mod allows you to create ornamental graves, increasing the probability of encountering the mysterious Grave Guardian that patrols the region immediately surrounding cemeteries.

WTHIT

Minecraft has a wide variety of items and blocks, so it’s understandable if you don’t know everything about them. Instead of looking for an explanation, just install the “what the hell is that?” mod, or WTHIT for short. If you use this mod, the target’s name will appear, regardless of whether it is vanilla or customized. When using WTHIT, you can also inspect the current status of note blocks and composters with a simple mouseover. This add-on is great if you’re the type of person who likes to be in the loop about everything happening in their immediate vicinity.

Simple Voice Chat

The lack of a default voice chat in Minecraft means that if you don’t use a third-party mod, you’ll probably wind up using a service like Discord to communicate with other players. The Simple Voice Chat modification is the way to go if you want to improve your voice chat experience. This modification enables in-game group chats and proximity communication between players. What we call “proximity chat” is actually how we communicate with one another in the physical world. A player’s voice is amplified when they are close by, but mutes as they move away from you. This enables you to strike up casual discussions with anyone you encounter.

Easier Sleeping

You can skip a night of sleep entirely if you play Minecraft at home alone and then lie down to sleep. When playing on a shared server, this is unfortunately not the case. Everyone who uses the internet will have to go to bed if there are no moderators to keep things running smoothly. If there are a lot of people using the service, this could be inconvenient. If a certain number of players get their rest during the night, rather than everyone, the Easier Sleeping mod will not trigger the night cycle. Customization is also possible by adjusting the required percentage of players.

Villagers Leashed

We’ve all experienced the frustration of interacting with locals. With the Leashed mod installed, you may easily transport any mob, including villagers, by using a diamond lead. You can use diamond lead on monsters like the Wither if you’re in the mood for some risk. The diamond variant of this mod can be made with just eight diamonds and one regular lead.
